Do you Save Yours?

Do you save your posts? I have mine in a file for posterity. But there has to be a better way. I write each entry in blogger. Is that the most efficient method? When my entry is emailed to me I copy it, cut and paste and put it into a Word document. Most efficient?

I totally don't get Picassa and Flickr. I know they are photo storage but I tried to use both and as far as photo storage, I'd rather use Webshots. One of them is tied to blogger and if I try to delete anything from it it tells me that it will delete from my blog (I hope I am remembering right. It was a while ago that I played with these.) I see other blogs with links in their sidebar to pictures....I can't bear the idea of organizing another photo storage (other than on my PC). I want to spend less time on the computer not more.

Any help? How do you do it>

I keep electronic files of my photos on my personal computer -- some are larger than what I post in my blog, others are what is in the blog, others never "made the cut" to be posted on the blog... I use a downlaodable program called irfanview for editing my photos.

I don't keep a copy of the text of a blog post; guess I could, but I figure several years from now am I really going to go back and want to read them?

Oh I so want to do this too, maybe the kids someday would want to look at them, I was just going to copy them and put them in a month by month folder in a binder. cannot wait to hear other ideas

I read one time about a blogger who had her posts printed in journal form (apparently some small business offers this service.) This is something I think I'll do someday. Right now I'll continue to use my blog as my "storage file"

I embed photos in my blog instead of using Flickr or such (some day Blogger is going to fuss at me for taking too much storage space). The only time I used Flickr is for the slideshow of Linus quilts in the margin (note to self - update your slide show!). As for saving posts, I treat it as ephemera - it's more like conversation to me than composition. And I don't think I write anything well enough to worry about saving it for posterity!

some technical information - since you use blogger, all of the photos you've uploaded to blogger are saved in a picasaweb album, probably picasaweb.com/yourusername - go check that out.

also, if you log into blogger in draft (draft.blogger.com) and work there, you will see that you can export your whole blog. i do this pretty regularly and then back up the file onto my external hard drive. in theory, this should be a sufficient backup.

I edit my photos in Photoshop and have the originals on my computer. As to the blog posts themselves, I hadn't even thought about saving them!

While none of the posts I write are necessarily something anyone will want to read even a couple of years from now, I think I would like to keep a copy somewhere. Hmm ...

I wish I had your discipline. I have two years worth to save to disc. I looked into having a paper copy made by Blurb but so far haven't done anything about it.

I keep all my journal posts. In livejournal, I can control how many posts show, so I go in and make it 50 (the maximum) or however many its been since I last saved. Then I just save as web page complete. It saves it exactly as it looks in the blog, including pictures, and I can then burn it on a CD. If I click on the html page, it will come up in the browser just like the original, but it will be from my files instead of from livejournal.

You could save weekly, or however you wish to do it. No muss, no fuss. =)
