More pretty pictures from the quilt show. Not going to narrate each one....I think the colors are wonderful on a few of these. If only I'd sit down and sew.........

Quilt Show New Braunfels, Texas - 1
Just thought I'd share these pretty pictures. I am always in awe of the workmanship of others. I have no idea of any of the makers. I apologize but I forgot to write down the names.

Love the idea of this one. The possibilites make my head spin.

Could these two be any happier???

I would never have the patience for all this paper piecing!

This was so cute. There were embellishments all over it. Bugs, ect. Very, very cute.

Just pretties~

The Flip Flop Quilt
I could have sworn that I'd already posted this quilt. (if you've already seen this, sorry. I just couldn't find it. Point me to the right spot so I can stop pulling out tufts of hair!) I would have been willing to bet on it! I searched and searched my blog to no avail. Thanks to Sandy I was able to add my webshots photos to the blog. Bloggers are the best!!!

This quilt was a total labor of love. It is also one that I entered into a quilt show a few years ago. Not such fabulous comments from the judges but that's ok. I really didn't enter it to be judged, just to be seen.
You have to read the label in order to understand the quilt. The label give both an explaination of the quilt and a legend to explain each block. I freemotion quilted it on my home machine. You can't really tell but I echo quilted the flip flops to look like they were in the sand. The blue fabric looks like bubbles. The fabric from the quilt came from my stash. Frugal. The flip flop trims were purchased. Very expensive!

So Much to say
I don't even know where to begin.......
Ok, let's start with Houston. If you judged by my checkbook, it was a blast!!!! I will probably revisit the quilt show theme more than once but let's start with my checkbook! I have been, as my friend says, gritching over my table for a long, long time. Well, I finally bought this one. I had looked at the Janome table (I sew on a 6600) but this one had an optional extension table. Uhm....did I say optional? This table is not the most beautiful table out there. Let's face it, the cabinets that run in the thousands of dollars are beautiful , BUT, and this is a biggy, this table has an adjustable height for those of us that are not the standard 5'4"! The owners of this company were very, very, very nice. I just can't say enough about them. Trade shows are exhausting and they were perky and friendly each time I visited their booth (I kept taking all of my friends back to show them my new baby!) I am waiting on pins and needles today because if it shipped exactly on time and all of the stars aligned, I may get it today.
Next checkbook depleter.....thread! I bought some of the Brytes by Superior. I've already used it and am in love. I love the thickness of it. I also bought PolyQuilter thread. I cannot wait to try it.
I also bought fabric from my favorite quilt shop and designer, School House Quilts, Judie Rothermel. I bought not one but 2 fat quarter bundles of the Lancaster line. Pictures later.
I bought this specifically to make a quilt for my bed.
I also got a new phone and in my infinite wisdom thought the camera on it would be enough for pictures of quilts.....Wrong! I will try to get them off the camera and see how they look.
Thats all for now.....

HOUSTON!!!!!
Whooo! Hoooo! My dear friend and backdooor neighbor booked a room, I'm driving, have the day off work and We are definately GOING!!!! (how lucky was I to move into a house where my backdoor neighbor is not only kooky but a quilting enabler!!! It is conveinint when I run out of just the right fabric, thread, pattern. I call her and she throws it over the fence!!!) Although I live very close to Houston, I haven't been to Quilt Festival in at least 5 years. We are going on the cheap....a room on points, sharing a room and packing our lunch. Fine by me as I want to look at quilts! I'm very excited.....for more than one reason. First,I don't need anything. I really don't mind if I see the shopping or not. Last time, I had a list of things I wanted/needed and spent alot of money. This time I want to see quilts. My hope is that they are not all artsy quilts. I so love traditional quilts and although appreciate art quilts, embellishments, ect, I much prefer the traditional ones. I'm going with dear friends and the only downfall is that there are 3 of us, two beds, and I snore!!! Oh well, that will be their problem as once I am asleep I don't notice that I snore one little bit!!!!!! Anyone else going? Let me know and we can say Hi in person.

i did it...YIKES!
I submitted my quilts to the February quilt show. I steathily snuck up to the house of the woman accepting the applications and dropped it in her mailbox. I half hoped the mail man would take it by mistake. Lo and Behold she called me a bit later to ask a question. She then convinced or should I say coerced me into having the thing JUDGED!!! OMGOSH! I really don't need someone else pointing out my flaws. I will just need to put on my biggest shoulder pads when I read the critique. Here is a picture of the second quilt I entered .(OH CRUD! I haven't the foggiest how to link to my webshots, and don't feel like posting the photos again so here is my webshots, if you care to look. I've been trying to figure this out for too long and my mah jong buddies are on their way over. It is in the folder named Quilts 2005 THis is the ONLY photo I have of an unfinished quilt...It has since been finished. I took it the first time I was going to enter it in this show but whimped out. http://community.webshots.com/user/morah2s )the first is the chuppah. )
Well duh, the second quilt is the flip flop quilt...Thanks for asking Sheila. I told you I was firmished about entering it.
I rearranged my sewing room and one day when the sun is bright, I'll take a picture. (Yeah like the sun isn't out here. I think the temp was 90 degrees. Yes you read right 90...in Novenber!)
I love the new arrangement because I have the best of both worlds, can look at the tv and out the window at the same time.
I love the idea of posting, or keeping track of gratitudes. When my kids were little, we said prayers at night and then each had to tell us something they were grateful for. It was a way of reminding them of what is important. This morning I found out that a dear friend of mine was sick and died without any of us knowing. (How do you have a dear friend die without knowing? They have two homes, across the country from each other, and tend to fall out of touch when at the other home.) I am very sad and it makes me want to remember what is important in our lives. Even on those days when all you are grateful for is your bed, solitude and a remote control.
What I'm grateful for today:
1. A wonderful husband
2. Healthy, happy, self sufficient children
3. Friends and family that love me
4. Finding the Hidden Valley Oyster Cracker coating on the first Google search (hey I have to
feed these mah jong ladies something!?)
