Can anyone help?

If there is anyone still out there reading my blog(I've gotten so bad at posting. I'm just not willing to give it up quite yet because I know I will change again and want to post more often...)I need some help here. I'm desperate for a suggestion. I made 3 table runners last year for Hanukkah. They are still unfinished because thinking that I could skip a step, I used heavy duty wonder under. I've found that I can't get away with with the edges of the applique left unfinished. They look so blah. Now I'm stuck with the riffin' raffin' heavy duty stuff that will gum up my needle. Any ideas of what to do???? I need to finish these fast. Hanukkah is coming and I also need to decorate my classroom. My thoughts are to just outline quilt the children without actually touching the appliques? Do ya' think that will be enough? Not the greatest photos but you get the idea........

The table runners are cute, and if you follow through on your idea, which by the way sounds just fine, they will be cute and finished!
Nice job.

Run a bead of Tulip Paint along the edge of the applique where you would normally stitch. I used to add appliques to teeshirts this way. HTH.

I still read your blog! Lol* I go through spurts where I'll have no time to sew, so I'll stop posting for a while, then come back. :)

I'm not a fan of wonder under, though I know a lot of quilters who are. You could use clear invisible applique thread and satin stitch around the applique. It would be quick and you wouldn't have to change anything you've already done. Then maybe do some stippling to quilt it quickly - you could use a varigated thread that matches the little people. That would be fairly easy and quick. :)

Good luck! Can't wait to see what you do! :)

I would cover the whole top with a layer of clear vinyl. Easy clean-up and you don't have to sew down the edges of the applique!

I'm thinking some kind of paint along the edge - I'm visualizing something that squeezes out of a bottle, but maybe, since it's for the classroom, you should just laminate the whole thing and call it done. =)
