The mess got worse

In an effort to help myself, I am posting these pictures for all to see the mess. I think there is something seriously wrong with my tension. I cannot seem to fix it no matter what needle or tension setting. Feel free to comment. H-E-L-P!

When this happends to me I have to thread my maching all over again. That seems to help on my machine.

oy.... I would take out all of the thread (top & bobbin) turn off the machine, clean what you can. start the threading again from scratch making sure the presser foot is raised, etc.

Well, I have to agree with May and Calico...rethread all of it. I have a Janome that drove me insane...they failed to tell me that I needed to put some tension on the thread by holding it as I was threading the machine from the top. When I did that, it worked great. Mine looked exactly like yours. Hope this helps.

I agree with everyone else - completely rethread the machine and clean the bobbin area out at the same time.

If you are still getting tension like this - railroad tracks on the bottom of the quilt - either your top tension is too loose or the bobbin tension is too tight.

I agree with Mary. Often, I find it's the bobbin tension is too tight so the top tension has to be tightened too much to compensate. Of course, re-thread but try loosening the bobbin tension a hair. Hope that helps!

I would rewind the bobbin first! Also, for my Janome, there are two bobbins that fit, but one is just a millimeter different in size and one works much better than the other.

Also make sure that that little lifting lever on the foot is in the right position...and make sure the foot is in the down position. All the things I know you know..but I always need to be told again and again, cuz when I'm frustrated I get stubborn!
